CONGRATULATIONS GOES OUT TO DARREN SHORT FOR WINNING THE BEAT THE BOARD TOURNAMENT AT AMF RITCHIE THIS WEEKEND. DARREN TOOK HOME A FIRST PLACE PRIZE OF $960.00 WHICH INCLUDED THE FULL PROGRESSIVE POT OF $500.00. THIS WAS HIS SECOND ABT TITLE AND THIS WIN CATAPULTED HIM TO SECOND PLACE IN THE RACE FOR THE WDC PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD. CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN DARREN. FOLKS BE SURE TO COME OUT TO OUR NEXT EVENT AT FT MEADE BOWLING CENTER IN ODENTON MD (MAY 10-11). IT WILL BE A TWO DAY COMBO SINGLES TOURNAMENT. THE PREPAID ENTRY FEE FOR EVERYONE WILL BE $50.00. THE QUALIFYING SQUAD TIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS: SATURDAY - 12:00, 1:30, 3:00 & 4:30 PM AND SUNDAY - 12:30 PM, SEMI FINALS AT 2:00 WITH STEP LADDER FINAL TO FOLLOW. DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE WDC BOWLER OF THE YEAR AWARD THAT WILL BE GIVEN AT THE END OF THE YEAR. IT IS WORTH $1,000 TO THE WINNER. SO COME ON OUT ON MAY 10 - 11 TO BOWL. WHO KNOWS YOU MIGHT BE THE ONE RECEIVING THIS AWARD.

DIRECTORS NOTES:
I want to first thank everybody who came out to our Grand Opening at US Bowling in Alexandria VA this past weekend. I want to especially thank Andy Mitchell and Roy Shambry for coming down from New Jersey to add a very big hand while Lavern, Domonique and I understand the workings of an ABT tournament. Thanks also goes out to Dee Willis who helped out on the new membership desk.
Congratulations to Darnell Whitfield and Charles Campbell who were our very first Classic and Masters Champions respectively for our branch. Those two gentlemen have also had another first in the branch. They both were the first folks to be promoted (or some would say graduated). Darnell has graduated to the Masters Division and Charles Campbell has graduated to ABTs Scratch Division. Congratulations again guys for that feat.
The raffle featured two winners Ms. Amber Casey and Don Nance. Ms. Amber Casey was the big winner winning a bowling ball and a TV. Don Nance won a bowling ball. There will be more raffles of bowling balls, TV, etc in the near future.
Are you a Lifetime member yet? What is that? A “lifetime” member has two distinct advantages over a regular member: (1) they are always prepaid at every local tournament (saves $2 on your tournament entry each week) and further qualifies you automatically for the High Prepaid Game or High Prepaid Series for the weekend. At our Grand Opening tournament the High Prepaid Game was only 203 (with handicap) for $25. The High Prepaid Series was 593 (with handicap) for another $25. You can only win one of them each week. (2) You don’t ever have to pay a renewal membership fee each year (currently the fee is $25). You only need five folks that you have personally recruited to join ABT to become a Lifetime member. I am working on something for those of you who are already “lifetime” members now. I will share that with you at a later date.
Our next tournament is a TWO DAY COMBO SINGLE TOURNAMENT (MAY 10-11) at FT MEADE BOWLING CENTER. Squad times are posted above.
So go out and talk to some of your teammates about the ABT and become a lifetime member. We will see you all at our next event.

2008 ABT Summer Nationals
Don’t forget to plan for the Summer National Event, also a Split Division Tournament July 29th – August 3rd, 2008, at Sams Town. The Amateur Bowlers Tour is also co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual K.O.T.A. event that same week, at Sams Town. More information will be forthcoming.
